About Us

Our Mission

Founded in Brooklyn in 2025, Fitness For Food is a community-driven movement built on a simple truth: no one should have to choose between their health and their next meal. We fight food injustice and hunger by offering free and low-cost fitness classes in exchange for food donations. Through movement, we nourish bodies—and through giving, we feed our neighborhoods. Whether it's a workout in the park or a community food drive, every rep, every step, every can collected brings us closer to a stronger, healthier, more united Brooklyn. One workout. One meal. One block at a time.

Why It Started – From the Founder, Bryan
I grew up in Canarsie, Brooklyn—raised by a grandmother who gave everything to make sure we had just enough. We often relied on food pantries to get by, and I watched her struggle to find food that was not only nutritious but respected our Puerto Rican culture. Healthy, culturally familiar meals shouldn’t be a luxury—and no family should have to hustle just to survive.

Fitness For Food was born from that reality. This isn’t just about exercise—it’s about justice, about community, and about never forgetting where we come from. I created this movement to turn pain into purpose, to give back to the borough that raised me, and to make sure nobody in Brooklyn has to choose between their health and their next meal again.
